Program Introduction
WISET contributes to balanced national growth and development by fostering local women in STEM through project groups in four regions (Chungcheong region, Honam-Jeju region, Daegyeong-Gangwon region, and Southeast region).
Female middle and high school students
- Programs are operated in each region to improve the perception of girls entering STEM fields and encouraging local female middle and high school students to enter such fields.
Female college students
- In order to promote employment of local female STEM students in new technology fields and to reduce the gap in the employment rate between men and women, we operate employment-oriented capacity building programs for specialized industries of each region and regional industry-university programs.

Main programs
- Female middle and high school students: Girls’ Engineering Week*, Visiting Labs, Preliminary Labs, etc.
* During summer vacation, a two-week program is held to provide information on careers in STEM and career experiences to female middle and high school students nationwide. - Female college students : Industry-university female college student team projects, job and practical training in new industries and new technology fields, industry-tailored track & internships, etc.s
Program Goals
- Target ratio of female students among science and engineering students / (2020) 29.6% → (2027) 35.0% / 5.4 % increase
- Target gap reduction in the employment rate between men and women in STEM / (2020) Natural sciences 4.9%p, Engineering 5.6%p → (2027) Science and engineering combined 2.5%p / 1.8 % decrease / Natural sciences and engineering (mean) / Science and engineering combined
