The Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISET), led by President Aree Moon, announced on May 12 the launch of its new “Semiconductor Process Technology Training” program. Designed specifically for women with prior careers in STEM fields, this program aims to support their career transition and re-entry into the workforce.
Kicking off in June, the 'Career Transition and Re-entry Program (Career Reboot Program)' will be available in both online and offline. The comprehensive curriculum takes a step-by-step approach, beginning with foundational theories on the semiconductor industry structure, basic processes, and the latest tech trends. Participants will then advance to hands-on training in core processes, conducted in partnership with Seoul National University’s Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center. Upon completion, participants will also be offered 1:1 career coaching sessions with current professionals in the semiconductor industry.
The program is open to 50 women with STEM backgrounds who are returning to the workforce, and is offered free of charge.Applications are available through WISET’s W-Bridge platform (wbridge.or.kr) until May 20, with the program running from June 1 to June 26.
Aree Moon, President of WISET, stated, “This program is part of our career diversification initiative designed not only to respond to workforce demand in the semiconductor industry, but also to support career re-entry and transition for women in STEMwith prior career experience. Through practical, industry-aligned training, we will continue to expand pathways for women in science and technology.”
Sponsored by global semiconductor company onsemi, the course is specifically tailored to help women on a career break re-enter the semiconductor industry. The broader initiative plans to support a total of 150 women in STEM returning to the workforce this year. As a global company leading intelligent power and sensing technologies, onsemi remains committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts focused on nurturing future semiconductor talent and expanding opportunities for women in tech.
