Girls Engineering Talk is a role model lecture program for female scientists in promising science and technology in the future, providing students who dream of entering science and engineering with opportunities to increase interest in engineering and access promising science and technology.
Girls Engineering Talk was held online only due to COVID-19, and it was held online and offline for the first time in 22. Starting with Seoul National University President Oh Se-jung's keynote speech on the Future Talent Award in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the lecture was given by four female scientists in the semiconductor, AI, bio, and environmental fields, which are super-difference technologies for the future.
The 2021 Girls Engineering Talk event was held non-face-to-face online. This lecture was a great opportunity for female scientists to increase their interest in engineering and dream of the future through their own stories and lectures on promising science and technology. In particular, Minister of Science and ICT Lim Hye-sook, who gave a keynote lecture, told her story honestly, including state-funded students selected after four attempts, and her work-family study abroad life, and asked the next generation of female scientists to dream and challenge.
The 2020 Girls Engineering Talk was held in the form of the first online lecture in the science and technology world amid the COVID-19 situation. In this lecture, six female scientists and engineers gave lectures on various fields such as IT, BT, and AI to convey the message to elementary, middle, high, and university students, "I can be such a cool science and technology person!" In particular, Science and Technology Adviser Park Soo-kyung, who gave a keynote speech, received great response from participants as she led youth career counseling as a "scientist sister" rather than an aide.
